Each user has a few options for personalizing and customizing the search results and improving the relevancy of the results. The following options will not modify documents in any way, they will only improve the search results. It is safe to play with these options and for optimal results some tuning is likely required. The customize search settings, go to user’s settings and change the fields.
Stop-words are short words that are semantically irrelevant and should be left out when searching. They are language-dependent and should include words specific to the language that the documents are written in. Stop words for multiple languages are ok. Examples of stop words in English include ‘a’, ‘an’, ’the’, ‘I’, ‘it’, ‘do’. You can create the list yourself or look for online resources for a list of stop words. Set one stop word per line.
After editing the stops all documents are indexed again. This may take a long time depending on the number of documents that the user has.
Synonyms are any personal words with similar meaning that should return same search results. For instance, setting following synonyms:
E.g. setting synonyms to:
Will give similar results when searching for word ‘food’, ‘pasta’ and ‘pizza’. Also if search query contains ‘food’, then ‘pasta’ and ‘pizza’ will be included in the results too.
Set list of words separated by comma for each synonym per line.
